Cooperation with the "Stiftung der Kärntner Sparkasse" (Foundation of the Bank of Carinthia)

In the near future, the Metschacher Moos "the Mire of Metschach" will be available to students and researchers of Carinthia University of Applied Sciences (CUAS) as an experimental and test site. The "Stiftung der Kärntner Sparkasse" (SKS) has purchased the former mire landscape and made it available to CUAS as part of a long-term cooperation. The scientific value of the area lies in existing data series on vegetation development on the former mire site. The data go back more than 30 years, and long-term research can now continue at the site.

The 14.6 ha site will provide opportunities to test and further develop biodiversity monitoring technologies through programmes including the CUAS project BioDivTecs Hub. The site is also to be used by other research and educational institutions, companies and start-ups. In multilateral cooperation, an internationally visible research infrastructure is planned.
