In collaboration with the IUCN WCPA, and as part of the Austrian FFG-funded project BioMONITec, UNESCO Chair researchers at Carinthia University of Applied Sciences led a large international team to produce a framework for developing biodiversity monitoring programmes in conservation areas. The process is broken into four essential phases, simplifying the complex task into more manageable components.
The Technical Report Series guideline “A framework for monitoring biodiversity in protected areas and other effective area-based conservation measures: Concepts, methods and technologies” will be released on April 22nd, 2024 and available for free download on the IUCN library platform.
